Flame, Flow, Art & Culinary

Team day full of Inspiration, enjoyment and team building

Flame, Flow, Art & Culinary is a team day everyone can take part in. A day when the participants get to know themselves and each other, find inspiration and build team flow. What’s more, there is delicious cooking, eating and modern art to enjoy. Master chef Sieberen Meerema has joined forces with author and inspirer Rijn Vogelaar to design the day.

How it began

Sieberen and Rijn have been working together since 2014. At that time Rijn chose the Rotterdam hotel Quartier du Port as the home location for his training sessions. Rijn: “When I heard that cooking workshops were being given in the studio under the hotel, I wanted to have a word with the cook. Maybe it could be a good addition. When I asked Sieberen if my course on enthusiasm fitted in with his cooking workshops, he looked at me with a smile and a twinkle in his eyes. “Got it covered”, he replied. I didn’t need any more words – his look was enough. Since then we have combined dozens of training courses with a cooking workshop. To the great enjoyment of the participants and ourselves”.

Sieberen Meerema

As patron-cuisinier, Sieberen stood at the helm of top restaurant De Harmonie for 12 years. After that he started cooking studio Meerema, together with his wife Anja.

“Cooking is inspiration, the hunt for freshness. Attention to atmosphere and details. Our cooking studio is a place where you are more than welcome and where life plays out in the traditional kitchen, at the table, but most importantly with love and passion. That is what we do and what we are good at. We aim to achieve relaxation through effort. Help yourself to a delicious aperitif and take a seat. Experience the warm, culinary atmosphere and the aroma of our habitat. Meet our Molteni stove, seize the moment, and spend time in our unique artisanal kitchen, which we have designed together with details that evoke a Mediterranean ambiance combined with a hip and modern feeling. But most importantly, it is friendly and warm.”

Rijn Vogelaar

Rijn Vogelaar is a social psychologist, researcher, speaker and author of books on the dynamics of enthusiasm. He is the former CEO of Blauw Research and founder of the Superpromoter Academy, where training courses on flow and enthusiasm are given.

I am convinced that focusing on enthusiasm and flow has a positive impact on how we interact with each other. It has consequences for the way we manage organisations and how we organise society. My workshops are intended to provide insight into the dynamics of enthusiasm and to offer concrete tools for getting started. I have succeeded in my mission when the audience at a presentation or the participants in a workshop leave the room fired with enthusiasm and full of ideas, with enough leads to turn them into action.”

Programme

Morning

The participants are given a warm welcome in the morning with a cup of coffee and something tasty to go with it. The participants then bake bread under supervision. While the bread is in the proofing cabinet, Rijn gives an inspiration session about enthusiasm, purpose and talent (Flame). The participants then go for a walk in pairs and talk about it with each other. These conversations are discussed in a plenary session after the walk.

Afternoon

Around noon the participants can start making the salad of their lives and then enjoy the home-baked bread with a delicious soup. After lunch the participants go to the Kunsthal (museum of modern art) for an assignment. Upon return their impressions will be discussed and a link is made to their personal Flame. This artistic interlude is followed by an inspiration session about team flow. How can we experience more Flow ourselves, and how can we help others with it? Research from positive psychology and examples from music, sport and business show the way.

  • 15:00 – Discuss Kunsthal assignment
